What Should I Do If I’m Feeling Pressured to Take the Abortion Pill?

You're Not Alone—And You're Not Without Options

Pregnancy is deeply personal—and so are the decisions that come with it. But sometimes, those decisions don’t feel like decisions at all. If you’re feeling pressured by a partner, parent, or anyone else to take the abortion pill, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to go through it in silence. The stress and uncertainty you're feeling are real, and they deserve to be taken seriously.

No One Can Force You

It’s important to know that no one has the right to force or pressure you into ending a pregnancy. In Texas, it is illegal for someone to coerce a woman into an abortion, including through threats, manipulation, or emotional abuse (Texas Penal Code § 22.01(b)(7)). Whether the pressure is obvious or subtle, it’s not okay—and it’s not legal.

You have the right to say no. You have the right to be heard. And you have the right to receive support without being pushed into doing something you don’t feel ready - or willing - to do. You are not obligated to go along with someone else’s timeline, fear, or frustration. Your voice matters.

Pressure Can Look Like a Lot of Things

Not all pressure comes through yelling or ultimatums. Sometimes it’s a direct push—like a friend who insists “you’ll regret it if you don’t.” Other times, it’s less intentional, such as when a boyfriend says he’s not ready to be a dad. Even if he’s not trying to pressure you, hearing that can still feel heavy. Pressure can be subtle, layered with guilt or fear, and it’s often dismissed as concern. But if it’s making you feel trapped, it’s not okay. Feeling scared, overwhelmed, or like you don’t have a say is a red flag. And you deserve better than that.

You Deserve Space to Think Clearly

This is your life, your pregnancy, and your future. You have every right to slow down, get the facts, and make a plan on your own terms - not someone else’s. When you’re under pressure, it’s easy to feel like time is running out - but the truth is, you are allowed to take a step back and breathe.

If you're unsure what to do or just need to talk to someone, we have nurses available in the chat who are here to listen - without pressure, without judgment. They’re here to help you think things through with compassion and care.

You Still Have a Say

If you're feeling overwhelmed, take a breath. The pressure may be loud, but it doesn’t define you. You can choose based on your values, your circumstances, and your hope for the future - not someone else’s fear.

You are not alone. You are not trapped. And you are allowed to take your time.
